blood clot

This blood thinner drug is usually prescribed as a prophylaxis to reduce blood clot. Patients that have undergone knee or hip replacement surgery are usually rendered immobile for weeks or even months after the surgery.

While they are in the immobile state, blood clots are likely to build up in the leg, which is medically termed as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). DVT is a life-threatening complication which can lead to blockage of the pulmonary artery of the lungs (pulmonary embolism).

Xarelto Blood Clot Lawsuit

Janssen’s Pharmaceuticals and Bayer’s Healthcare blood thinner drug, Xarelto, has been used by physicians since 2011 after it was FDA approved. This anticoagulant was instituted as a replacement of Warfarin, to minimize the risk of a blood clot that can give rise to deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.

Several plaintiffs have filed lawsuits after they were damaged by the adverse side effects of Xarelto. The plaintiffs argue that the drug is being falsely advertised, the patients and physicians are not made aware of the severe internal bleeding that it can cause. And unlike Wafrain which has Vitamin K as its reversal agent, Xarelto has no antidote which is quite dangerous if one is bleeding and still using Xarelto.

Filing A Lawsuit On Xarelto Blood Clot

To file for a lawsuit on the Xarelto blood clot, it is advised that if you have suffered any of its adverse effects, incurred any medical expenses, been using it and you are most likely to incur future medical expenses, seek the advice of an attorney who will then advise you best on what step to take forward. There are lawyers who specialize in internal injury law and should be the right go-to persons for such cases. Some law firms even have lawyers on standby to take such cases.

Why File For A Blood Clot Lawsuit?

The obvious reason for the filing of the lawsuit is to get compensation. The lawsuit will be seeking recovery for the physical injury gotten, medical expenses incurred, suffering, pain and lost compensation.

Compensation gained once the lawyers make their case and in the case that a favorable ruling is made to the plaintiff, will be used to offset the expenses incurred as a result of using the drug.

This will also serve as a warning to other pharmaceutical companies that manufacture drugs and fail to give clear warning of the adverse side effects that are associated with their product.
